Similar vein to questions questions this one, run with it & see what we come up with, could also be called why oh why.

What strange and/or seemingly un-necessary things do people or organisations do that irritate or confuse us? Any plausible explanations would also be welcome!

Example:

Premier Inns - good thing, they provide duvets rather than the dreaded sheet & blanket. Why do they insist on tucking the damned thing under the mattress? Does anyone do this at home?

Oh my god that really is my sad and stupid brain flexed......

It really is annoying and I know most of you think being annoyed about this is pathetic but we are mere humans after all and you will all have things to add here.

For me -

The one I am in at the moment has a gate you need a code to get out of the carpark.
The night staff change this code every day before breakfast. So even though there is a door to the carpark on the first floor you need to go down to the desk to find the code before you go to the car........

My brother once had an urgent call from his credit card company.

"Sir, we've noticed some very unusual spending patterns on your credit card. Much more being spent than usual, do you still have the card in your possession?"

"Yes, I'm out doing my Christmas shopping."

Do these people think before they act or do they just respond to the flashing light on the computer screen?
