I thought I would post on this subject as it seems to me that is becoming less fashionable these days for people to call themselves eclectic. For me psychology has a complex subject matter and therefore our models and approaches should to a degree reflect this complexity. Recently, I had a conversation with a CBT therapist who told me that the current trend is for rapid therapies with quick outcomes. Whilst, I have no problem with this idea in general, I do have an issue with the notion that all approaches to psychological therapy have to be narrow in focus and rapid. So I think I still am eclectic. It would be great to read other peoples views.
