Has anyone looked at the National Patient Safety site, they have looked at what has occured in restraint going wrong for the preceeding 18 months upto November 2008 (They published guidlines then for any area that uses retraint to have defibs etc available within 3mins of any place where restraint does or may take place). Also they note in that time fifty incidents where floor restraint has gone wrong with staff who are not emergency first aid trained (what about the incidents where staff are trained also?) but 3 people died of those fifty.
It seems heart attacks kill people!!!! I know of an incident where a staff memeber also had one on a move to take people to the floor, someone should look at the pressure we are (as a society, not as an individual) putting on peoples hearts with this movement.
