Well I think the conference was an absolute success!
Not only did we have a great selection of speakers that were quite thought provoking, but we also networked with other trainers and fellow professionals.
I found it very interesting to see hear how the Maltese services deal with challenging issues and it was also enlightening to hear how they were looking to improve their services and see the enthusiasm and dedication to do so.
So i personally would like to thank the speakers, the trainers and trainees who attended and contributed to the workshops, all the delegates who came and made interesting discussions and to the host nation who made us so welcome!
Oh and to the bars O'Caseys and BJ's! :)

The training and conference in Malta were fun and instructive (last two words added just in case anyone logs in here to check what we had been doing over a 3 day period).
Just to give a bit of (not so constructive) feedback, I thought that the presentation of the forum was a bit too dragging. I feel that people who are interested would have made it here in some way or another while the technophobic people still wouldn't have bothered even after a presentation involving hand over hand prompting and clicking.
Overall though as Andy would say [American accent]Good job![/American accent]

I think the forum is a resource to be used but is only as good as the contributions from the members
you get more out if you put more in
still it is a good point thank you
Sounds like you had a good time
- lots of :p -work right?
I really enjoyed the conference! It help me think outside the box - i was beginning to become rigid in my thinking about challenging behaviours! As much as we try not too, I think we all at some point fall into the trap of making the service users we work with fit into our views and opinions of why the challenging behaviours occur. We tend to forget that they are individuals too, with their likes and dislikes, and make them follow the rules we set up for them. The conference helped me realise that I was doing this.
I especially enjoyed Richard Mills' talk about sensory issues, and I also found David Walker's workshop very helpful in breaking my pre-set ideas.
I would like to thank all the trainers for making this a wonderful experience! I hope that it will not be too long before we meet up again!
I found it to be a nice conference. was apecially pleased by the talk of David Leadbetter about the change og a paradigm.
This is an issue that we often forget in our work, that is not only the caretakers but the whole organisation that need ot change their view on the work that is done.
Even though that I belive that people response gladly and joyfully to the changes that Studio III introduces, it becomes difficult when working in everyday life. I think it´s because one easily gets strangled up in daily activity. That is why I think that a change in the paradigm, would also change the wya we act in the daily life.
It was also interesting to know how they work in Malta and how they deal with their work.
I would like to thank Peter Burns for his wonderfull history and for given us all the hope that it is possible to change us selves and other peoples understanding of one person, so that the possibilities for that particular person are better and more progressive.
Mentioning som negative sides about the conference I would have liked more time together with the trainers and newcomers. As I am a newcomer, I would like to have had more training time and discusing experiences and thoughts about the work we do. It would have given me the possibility to talk about my thoughts and hear other people about their thougts. But hopefully we can get that at another conference.:)
Thank you all for some good days.
