Parent Training and Support
My 20 year old son has autism and severe learning disabilities and I think as a family we have experienced most of the challenges that this could present. From the pain of diagnosis and the search for a ‘cure’ to the acceptance and fight to find appropriate education and more recently to the letting go of our precious son to the scary world of adult services. One of the most painful experiences has been dealing with the very physically challenging behaviour that my son has on occasions displayed. This led me to re-evaluate the way we as a family lived and worked with him. I bring this experience and knowledge to my new role with Studio 3 of developing training and workshops for families in the management of challenging behaviour.
You will find articles that may be of interest, book reviews, a directory of organisations and websites and also you will be able to email questions, queries and comments to us. We may not always have the answer but we may know some who has!! We have developed a six session course for parents and families specifically around managing challenging behaviour in autistic spectrum disorders, which has proved to be very popular and we will also be developing other workshops and training days on a variety of subjects.
We hope to develop an e newsletter keeping you up to date on the latest developments in the world of challenging behaviour. We also welcome any contributions from you, which if appropriate we will publish on the website. Please contact us here.
