Empowering Families to Navigate Challenges with Calmness and Compassion

At Studio 3, we understand that supporting a loved one who exhibits distressed behaviour can be a complex journey. Our specialised training for families focuses on the innovative Low Arousal Approach, a methodology we originated to create calm and supportive environments. This training equips families with practical tools and strategies to apply the Low Arousal Approach in daily interactions with their loved ones.

There are a number of training options for family members, individuals, and carers to  consider:

  1. Stress Management Training: The Atlass Programme is a specialised initiative focusing on stress reduction and building coping strategies. This program is designed for supporters working in highly stressful environments or supporting a loved one with distressed behaviours. Through Atlass, participants gain valuable insights into effective stress management, fostering resilience, and maintaining well-being in challenging situations.

  2. Low Arousal Approach Training: The Low Arousal Approach is a set of skills tailored to de-escalating crisis situations in a non-aversive and calm manner. This also involves a mindset change, and means reflecting on how what we say and do in a crisis can make a person’s stress escalate. The Low Arousal Approach has been successfully applied by families across the globe.

  3. Managing Signs of Distress Training:  This course is designed for supporters of individuals who exhibit behaviours of concern. There is a focus on understanding the causes of distressed behaviours, recognising stress and trauma, crisis management, and applying Low Arousal Approaches.

  4. Trauma-Informed Care Training: Our trauma-informed care training using the SSRR approach is tailored specifically towards foster and residential carers supporting children and young people. This course follows a step-by-step programme whereby carers move through stages in their relationship with an individual, strengthening feelings of safety, stability, repair and resilience in order to heal past trauma.

What You'll Learn

  • Understanding the Low Arousal Approach: Learn the principles and techniques behind the Low Arousal Approach, designed to minimise stress and promote positive interactions. Stress reduction starts with us, and learning to stay calm in crisis situations is possible with practice.

  • Practical Skills: Acquire hands-on skills in implementing Low Arousal strategies designed to reduce physiological arousal, and create calm moments where co-regulation and de-escalation can occur.

  • Building Resilience: Become a resilient supporter, and create a supportive and understanding environment for the entire family.
